Betty Carolyn Matthews

Betty Carolyn Adams Matthews, Mother to Stacey and Kevi entered into eternal rest on February 28, 2026 in Corpus Christi, TX.

She was born in Corpus Christi, TX in 1943 to John Quincy Adams and Edith Marcella Bonham. Carolyn graduated from W. B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi in 1962 and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education from Corpus Christi State University, teaching for CCISD for over 30 years. After retiring from CCISD she moved to Helotes, TX where she continued substitute teaching for many years. Carolyn was a phenomenal educator who adored her students and touched so many young lives.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and the father of her daughters, Everett (Te) B. Vincent Jr., and leaves behind her daughters, Stacey Vincent-Flores of Dripping Springs, TX and Katherine (Ron) Gullett of Abilene, TX., her sister, Janie (Mike) Blackwood of Corpus Christi, TX., Grandchildren: John (Lisa) Vercellino, Taylor Williams, Victoria (Cameron) Clark, Michael Flores, Stephanie (Zack) Giuliani and Bryan Gullett. Great-grandchildren, Tyler Vercellino, Audrina Vercellino, Emerson Vercellino, Liam Saponari, Zane Jordan, Savannah Jordan, Benjamin Gullett and Catherine Giuliani.

Carolyn will be remembered for her independence, strength, and her love for nature and stray animals especially her beloved pets. Her memory will live on forever in our hearts.

Special thanks to her favorite son-in-law Michael Flores who was always there for her and Emily Rowe her cherished childhood friend who always visited.

Burial will be scheduled at a later date.
