Carolyn Jean Hunt

Our beloved mother, Carolyn Jean (Masters) Hunt, of Corpus Christi, Texas, peacefully passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 79. She was our constant guide — a source of comfort, humor, and unconditional love.

Born on October 26, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, Carolyn was the daughter of Connie “Poodle” Foster and was raised by her grandparents, Everett and Cora Masters, in Sikeston, Missouri.

Carolyn was the heart of her home and family. She raised two children — Tony Hunt of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Kathleen (Jay) Davis of Gosnell, Arkansas — creating a warm, joyful, and loving household. She shared 43 years of marriage with her soulmate, Wayne Hunt, who preceded her in death on April 24, 2009.

She is survived by her cherished grandchildren: Kurtis Payne of Truman, Arkansas; Becca (Logan) VanDyke of Toledo, Ohio; Kameron Hunt of Gosnell, Arkansas; and Laney (Neva) Hunt of Youngstown, Ohio — all of whom lovingly called her Mamaw. She was also the proud great‐grandmother of River Lynn VanDyke.

Carolyn is further survived by her “daughter‐by‐another‐mother,” Sharon Mixen of Pontiac, Illinois; her sister‐in‐law Margaret Master of Oran, Missouri; and many extended family members and friends who held her dear.

She was preceded in death by her mother, grandparents, husband Wayne, “son‐by‐another‐mother” Jimmy Mixen, and siblings Everett, Norman (Babe), Lonnie, and Frank Masters, Virginia Gurnow, Barbara Legate, and Corene (Sissy) Harnish.

Carolyn will be remembered for her love of gardening, her joy in baking, and the countless crocheted baby blankets she lovingly made for coworkers, family, and friends. Her hands were rarely still, and her heart was always open.

A celebration of Carolyn and Wayne’s reunion will be held at a later date.
