We sadly announce the passing of Cherie Marie Perez, a beloved figure to many, on January 9, 2026. Born on November 12, 1954, Cherie was a beacon of love and kindness. Preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Perez, her father, Everette Armand, her mother, Toy A Lee Armand-Savoie, and her brother, Farron Eastburn, Cherie's memory lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
Cherie is survived by her loving children, Brittanie Nelle and her husband Robert, Justin Perez and his wife Lori, and Bryan Perez. She was a cherished grandmother to Mason and Caleb Nelle, and Kailyn, Colton, Madysen, and Rhylie Perez. Her sisters, Veda Clark, Renee Skinner, Medina Monk, and Shonette Pruett, along with sisters-in-law Tracey Beckcom and Jennie Eastburn, and brothers-in-law Randy Monk and Don Pruett, mourn the loss of their sister and friend.
Cherie held a fondness for Nora Roberts' books and had a penchant for anything sci-fi on television. Her favorite films included 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and the 'Twilight' series. Goose Island State Park and Choke Canyon State Park were her chosen retreats, where she delighted in camping and other recreational activities. A culinary enthusiast, Cherie was renowned for her gumbo and famous potato salad. She loved nothing more than spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
To know Cherie was to understand the embodiment of kindness, forgiveness, and love. She was best recognized by her gentle heart, yet her strength was undeniable. Passionately devoted to her family, she was a loving aunt and nanny to her nieces and nephews. Many can fondly recall her holding out sandwiches for the children through the backdoor. Love and care for friends were an intricate part of Cherie's nature, a trait matched only by the deep affection she held for her husband and children.
Cherie Perez's legacy is one of love, kindness, and the relentless reminder that family comes first. She was a testament to the strength of a gentle heart. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the love and joy she brought to the world.
