James Lynn "Jim" Van Blarcum, Sr., 80, of Orange Grove, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 18, 2026. Born on September 10, 1945, in South Haven, Michigan, Jim lived a full and vibrant life that touched the hearts of many.
Jim proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. His time in the military exemplified his dedication and courage, qualities that remained with him throughout his life.
A man who never met a stranger, Jim was known for his outgoing personality and his ability to connect with everyone he encountered. He was truly a force to be reckoned with—his presence filled every room he entered. Above all else, Jim cherished his family deeply. His love for his wife of 60 years, Clara Hoskins Van Blarcum, was unwavering and an inspiration to all who knew them. Together they built a life filled with love and memories that will endure forever.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife Clara; his daughter Margaret Duncan; his sons James Van Blarcum Jr. and Andrew Van Blarcum; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also came from a large family of 11 brothers and sisters who shared in the joys and challenges of life together. Jim was predeceased by his parents, James Alfred Van Blarcum and Pauline Decker Van Blarcum.
Though he will be deeply missed by those who loved him, there is comfort in knowing that Jim’s legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched. His memory will continue to bring warmth and strength to all who knew him.
May we find solace in remembering Jim’s laughter, kindness, and enduring love for his family. Rest in peace until we meet again someday.
