Javier Valdez, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, following a short illness. Born August 19, 1962, in Brownsville, Texas, Javier lived a life centered around family, hard work, and the people he loved.

Javier was the son of the late Juan B. Valdez Sr. and is survived by his mother, Irma Barron Valdez; his children, Javier Valdez Jr. (Shavel), Rebecca Silvas (Raul), and Brandi Aguilar (Andrew); and his 11 grandchildren, who brought tremendous joy and pride to his life.

He is also survived by his siblings, Juan (Maggie), Alma Winters (JC), Ana Ortega (Jerry), and Jose Jaime (Regina), as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Sally Rodriguez and Frances Valdez with whom he shared important chapters of his life with. Family was deeply important to Javier, and the memories and bonds they shared will forever remain in their hearts.

Being a father and grandfather brought Javier tremendous pride and joy. His family will forever remember his laughter, stories, presence, and the many ways he showed his love through his actions.

Javier attended Stell Middle School and James Pace High School in Brownsville. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros fan and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. A hardworking and determined man, Javier owned and operated his own landscaping business before retiring.

Javier will be remembered as a man who cared deeply, loved generously, worked hard, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His love and spirit will live on through his family and everyone whose life he touched.
