Jeanne Louise Kunkel
April 13, 1953 – December 8, 2025
Jeanne Louise Kunkel (née Tisdale) of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on December 8, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on April 13, 1953, Jeanne lived a life defined by deep devotion to her family, an unwavering commitment to others, and a strong sense of purpose that guided everything she did.
A proud graduate of Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi with a degree in history and criminal justice, Jeanne’s love for education was palpable. As a lifelong learner, she continued her education pursuing nursing, always driven by a desire to better understand herself and others, while remaining deeply committed to serving her community. She was fiercely principled—standing firmly by her convictions, advocating for what she believed was right, and consistently rooting for the underdog. Jeanne had little patience for injustice and was never afraid to speak up when someone needed defending.
Her love for Corpus Christi ran deep…the beach, the warmth, and especially the people who became her extended family. Jeanne had an extraordinary ability to notice those who needed care and step in without hesitation. Whether offering support to a former opera singer named Rita who no longer had any living relatives, or helping a struggling college student find their footing, Jeanne opened her heart and her home freely. She helped others without question, quietly, never expecting recognition but because she genuinely just had that kind of compassionate heart. Giving was not something she did…it was who she was.
As a mother, Jeanne was steadfast and deeply supportive. She walked beside her children through their most challenging moments, and celebrated them during their successes, always offering love, guidance, and an unshakable presence. She was immensely proud of Taylor and Sarah and made sure they always knew it. Her strength, loyalty, and fierce protectiveness defined her role as a mother.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Taylor Ashton Kunkel and Sarah Brynne Kribs, who will carry forward her legacy of compassion, integrity, and courage. She also leaves behind many dear friends in Corpus Christi who knew her as intelligent, principled, generous, and unforgettable.
For remembrance, Jeanne requested one event, a celebration of life in Corpus Christi, TX. The celebration is tentatively scheduled for the spring of 2026 (March timeframe). Further details will be provided to friends and family when scheduling is finalized.
