Neri "William" Orantes

Neri Orantes, affectionately known as William, passed away on August 16, 2025, at the age of 58 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born October 12, 1966, in El Salvador, he moved to the United States, where he spent his career dedicated to the wellbeing of others and the security of his community.

William dedicated a decade of his life working in rehabilitation at Citizens Medical Center, a role he performed with a deep sense of pride and commitment. Following his tenure at the medical center, he provided security at VISD with Zapata Security, where he continued to make significant contributions and took great pride in his work.

Beyond his professional life, William was a loving family man. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Orantes, and daughters, Saleena and Isabel Orantes, and his honorary daughter, Kirin Bashaw. He also leaves behind his siblings, Mary (Torres), Hember, Joel, and Alexander Orantes.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Rita and Antonio Orantes, and his in-laws, Noreen and Winston Bashaw.

William was a man of many interests and passions. He was an avid fan of Santana and Denzel Washington movies, and he never missed an episode of his favorite show, Law and Order SVU. His hobbies included fishing, playing billiards, and swimming, activities that he enjoyed in his leisure time, providing him with much joy and relaxation.
