Obituary: Robert “Bobby” Ross Pate
Robert “Bobby” Ross Pate passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 21, in Portland Texas.
Bobby was born on Sept. 1, 1940, in Cotulla, Texas. He dedicated more than 50 years to the oilfield industry with Marine Drilling Company and later Pride International.
A devoted Christian, Bobby faithfully served the Lord and his church community. For over 35 years, he was a deacon at Gateway Christian Center, where he shared his faith, kindness, and joyful spirit with everyone around him. He was a loving husband, father, “Paw Paw,” and friend—known for his generosity, humor, and unwavering dedication to God and family.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Leatrice Pate.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Pate of Corpus Christi; daughters Sandy Mecom (Jim) of Corpus Christi, and Vicki Venables (Roger) of Arlington, TX; his brother Travis Pate (Betty) of Garden City, TX; three grandchildren Jennifer (Dave) Stevens, Jeremy (Hailey) Mecom, and Jordan Venables; five great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 6:00 p.m. at Gateway Christian Center, 925 N.A.S. Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas.
