Rodney Ray Perez

Rodney Ray Perez, 75, of Sandia, Texas, passed away on December 13, 2025. Born on September 3, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, Rodney lived a life marked by service, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

Rodney proudly served his country as a Specialist 5 Combat Medic with the 565th Medical Company (Ground Ambulance) during the Vietnam War. His commitment to caring for others in times of great need reflected his enduring strength and compassion.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Rodney is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cherie Perez; his sons Justin Perez and Bryan Perez; daughter Brittanie Nelle; daughter-in- law Lori Perez; son-in-law Robert Nelle; grandchildren Kailyn Perez, Colton Perez, Madysen Perez, Rhylie Perez, Mason Nelle, and Caleb Nelle. He also leaves behind his sisters Sherry Pena, Debbie Pursel, and Carolyn Dove; brother-in-law Lorian Dove; and numerous nieces and nephews who cherished his presence in their lives.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Merceil Perez. He found great joy in spending time outdoors—hunting with family members was a treasured tradition. He also enjoyed fishing and camping, activities that brought him peace and connection with nature. Those who knew him will fondly recall his favorite saying: “When you're dumb, you gotta be tough,” a phrase that captured both his humor and resilience.

Rodney’s legacy lives on through the love he shared with his family and the memories they created together. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
