In Loving Memory of Sandra Ayala Galvan

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Sandra Ayala Galvan. She was welcomed into the Kingdom of God on July 8, 2026. Sandra passed away surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on January 7, 1964, to Santiago (Jim) and Estela Ayala. She was a proud graduate of Foy H. Moody High School class of ’82.

Sandra was a great athlete starting with cheerleading in 1973 for Southside Youth Football. Her cheerleading skills continued at Cullen Middle School and ended at Moody High School through her Senior year. She also excelled in track, bowling, ballet folklorico and was an all-star softball player.

Sandra was a member of Solid Rock Church. She loved reading the Bible and spending time with her Lord and Savior. She loved listening to her favorite hymns on the radio. She would sing along with the radio full blast to her heart’s content. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends; and her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren.

Sandra married Rudy Galvan on December 24, 1981. Their union was blessed with three beautiful children.

Sandra is preceded in death by her father, Santiago (Jim) Ayala, her paternal grandparents, Joel and Emilia Garcia, maternal grandparents, Alejandro and Herminia Perez, her former husband, Rudy Galvan, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her children, Melanie Galvan (Rafael Vega), Valerie Galvan (Robert Villarreal), Rudy Galvan Jr. (Cassandra), nine grandchildren, and longtime friend, Alvino Armijo. Also surviving are her mother, Estela Ayala, brother Jimmy Ayala (Karla), sister Christie Bazaldua (Val), many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, as well as many friends.

Sandra is now at peace. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Celebration of Life will be held at Solid Rock Church at 4922 Yorktown Blvd., Corpus Christi, TX 78413 on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Solid Rock Church. Cashapp $doeverythinginlovemd or personal checks made out to Solid Rock Church.
