Steven Johnson

Steven (Steve) Chance Johnson, 78, of Rockport, TX passed away on December 27, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born on March 14, 1947 in Camden, New Jersey, Steve lived a life defined by service to others, both in the Navy as well as other service organizations.

Steve spent much of his life working as a multi-line insurance agent in San Antonio, TX. He served in the US Navy for 30 years as a hospital corpsman and clinical lab technician during the Vietnam War as well as a Senior Chief in the Navy Reserves. Outside of work, he found joy in serving with the Lions Club, Optimist Club, Dare to Love, and Youth Orchestras of San Antonio as well as supporting many charities.

He is survived by his wife Beverly Palas, his daughters Annemarie Scimonelli and Jacqueline Johnson, his grandson Connor Scimonelli, siblings Joalyn Walker, Suzi Babbio, Allen Johnson and Janis Tandy, as well as the Palas and Royer families and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Joan Johnson.

A military memorial/celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Steven will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
