In Loving Memory of Zenaida L. Gloria
Zenaida L. Gloria, age 80, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, in North Padre Island, Corpus Christi, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones.
Zenaida was born on February 16, 1945 in the quiet town of Macrohon, Southern Leyte, Philippines. Zenaida was the second of eleven siblings in a family rooted in faith and love. From an early age, she embodied grace, strength, and quiet devotion. She was known for her boundless kindness and generous heart.
She graduated from Macrohon Institute and went on to earn both an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, major in Accounting, from Saint Joseph College in Maasin City. Zenaida began her career as a government employee at the Provincial Capitol in Maasin before embracing her true calling as a devoted homemaker. She loved her family deeply, especially her five children, and she was very proud of all of them. Her kindness and generosity became a part of them, shaping the people they are today. The echo of her loving spirit continues to resonate in the hearts of her children.
In her youth, she was vibrant and full of life. She played competitive volleyball and softball, running marathons, and dancing with joy. Her high school title of “Dancing Daffodil” perfectly captured her lighthearted spirit.
Zenaida found joy in life’s simple pleasures in cooking, sewing, crocheting, tending to her orchid garden, and later, traveling with her children especially her daughters. Her deep Catholic faith was the heart of her life. She was an active member of the Mother Butler Guild, Joy of the Lord Covenant Community, and Children of Mary, with a special devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Her quiet faith and compassion left a lasting impact to all who knew her.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Jennifer Maraya, Araceli Marsh, Junmar Gloria, Mossilini Gloria, and Mara Zeny Porter; and her siblings: Guillerma Dumanhug, Jaime Ligtas, Teodulo Ligtas, Clemence Dy, Rodulfo Ligtas, Radegunda Ravago, Zenas Calapre, Juanito Ligtas Jr., and Restituto Ligtas.
She is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband, Marcelino; her parents, Juanito and Rufina; and her sister, Meinrida.
Zenaida leaves behind more than memories. To know her was to feel the comfort of being seen, loved, and cared for. Her presence was a gift.
She was deeply loved, and her absence leaves a space no one else can fill. She will be forever missed.
